Project: this camp is an archeological adventure where vols will have a chance to take part
in the excavations at one of the most interesting archeological sites of the Blackearth region
(remains of late Stone Age – ceramics, an earth-house, arrow-heads, catacombs burial place, etc.).
They will get involved into the fascinating life of the archeologists’ community, its traditions
(for example, “initiation into archeologists”), peculiarities and challenges. Lectures on the main archeological epochs of the Lipetsk region and on how to carry out archeological research will be provided as well as intercultural thematic evenings and excursions to the nearby nature reserve “Galichia Gora”, to a big monastic complex in the town of Zadonsk and some of the cities of the region (Lipetsk, Elets). Vols will see the performance of the historical restoration club “Kopio” (= “Spear”). For the first two days vols will stay in the city of Voronezh, and then go to the camp site (travel expenses will be paid by the hosting organization). Vols will work 6 hours a day except for weekends.
Location: camp is in the country-side, some 100 km from the city of Lipetsk, which is the regional capital.
Accommodation: in tents, vols should bring their sleeping bags, warm clothes,
good working shoes, swimming suit, sun-tan lotion, repellent. Conditions are rather basic, don’t expect to find a bio-toilet here.
There will be a shower, heated from the sun, but usually the river Voronezh, which is just near the camp, is much more popular with the local archeologists in summer.
Vols will have their meals and participate in cooking together with all other members of the excavations.

Project: near the old provincial city Ostrogozhsk there is a village, where is situated an orphanage for children. In summer children go for vacation to their families or to summer camps. The building is a 110 year old former monastery. Though the staff of the place tries to arrange this place as comfortable as possible, they need help and fresh view on the decorations and design of some places in the orphanage. Participants of this camp will be
students of the Academy of Arts Voronezh, who usually do painting practice in the summer near this place and an international volunteer group. Local and foreign volunteers will combine restoration and painting work, taking their inspiration from the peaceful landscapes of Russian fields and forests. Work includes restoration of and painting in an orphanage – inside (wall painting, picture restoration, decorations of classrooms) and outside (restoration of a little summerhouse, carpentry and painting), making ceramic decorations for children’s rooms.
Excursions: Voronezh, Ostrogozhsk, Divnogorie camping.
Study part: volunteers will have a possibility to paint together with a group of students and their teacher,to do ceramics in an open air kiln and learn traditional for this region techniques of making ceramic toys for children.
Location: Ostrogozhsk is a town 100 km south of Voronezh.

Project: a group of vols is invited to participate in a photomarathon in which many local participants will take part with the aim to attract the attention to the problems of the city (pollution, transport, poverty, nationalism), to its historical heritage and with new eyes to fall in love with its beauty. Please, take your cameras with you! Meetings with professional photographs, several workshops on photo techniques/history of the city will be provided.
Location: Voronezh, situated in the very center of the European part of Russia, is often referred to as the symbol of Russian province. Voronezh is an old picturesque town with many churches, museums and theatres.
Accommodation: in a student hostel, 3 beds per room.

Project: «The Castle upon Oredezh river» Country Estates of the Leningrad region were built in 18-19 centuries. Among the owners there were members of the royal family and famous statesmen, military leaders, artists, composers, architects, writers, such as Tchaikovsky, Tolstoy, Nabokov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Aivazovsky, Benya, Vrangel. These country estates combine the beauty of nature with elegance of architecture, luxurious lifestyle with cozy nooks of the countryside. Each country estate is a unique phenomenon, the design of its owner.
Work: the volunteers will be engaged in improving the parks: take care of plantation of trees, mow the meadows, cure the trees, clean the hollows, sweep the grounds, cleaning them from old grass, leaves, brunches, twigs, garbage etc. The other activities are to root out verdure and weeds, rake leaves into heaps, as well as cleaning the territory around the river. Volunteers will collect garbage.

Project: «Following in the tracks of the Black Baron». Country Estates of the Leningrad region were built in 18-19 centuries.
Torosovo Country Estate was founded in the middle of the 19th century and belonged to the three generations of noble Vrangel family. Today the Torosovo Estate is an architectural ensemble. The Palace, built in the English Gothic style, is surrounded by a park. The Palace isn’t kept in its original condition, but the park remains the glory of the owners. Near the Torosovo there is an Izvara Estate, where the museum of the artist Rerich is situated (more information www.mirtesen.org.ru).
Work: various works, not requiring any special qualifications: gardening, maintaining the park territory, cutting bushes, sweeping the grounds, cleaning them from old grass, leaves, brunches, etc. Volunteers will root out verdure, shoots in the ditches; cutting down shoots in the meadows; rake together twigs in the forest park. Volunteers will collect garbage.

Project: «Gannibals’ springs» Country Estates of the Leningrad region were built in 18-19 centuries. We want to bring the former meaning to the country estates as pieces of world heritage. Today the restoration of the country estates is an important deal together with the renewal of the unique parks. The Country Estates of the Leningrad region are under the Russian Federation State protection as historical architectural monuments. Near the palace there are Duderhofs hills, where one can find the springs. The water from those springs is believed to be curative. By the order of the young Demidova the palace was surrounded by the park. There were “Turkish pavilion”, “Birchen house”, and mysterious Gothic gates. Today the fantastical old trees in the park remains of the former beauty of the park. The ruins of the Gothic gates, stone bridges and towers can still be found in the park (more information www.mirtesen.org.ru).

The last but one owner was the governor of the Baltic territories. And the last owner was a military general. During the dramatic events of the Russian revolution of 1917 he was known as a Black Baron, who fought against Bolsheviks. However, he was killed in the 1918 and the school was founded in the Torosovo Estate. Today the Torosovo Estate is an architectural ensemble. Project: The main idea of the project is to engage young people into the reconstruction of a museum of victims of political repressions. Taking part in this work you are getting closer to the reality of those period of Soviet history. You'll get a chance to look at that reality from inside.The practical aspect of work will include: grass mowing, garbage removing, fences reconstruction, organizing place for the "Memory Forest" - the place where people can plant the trees in order to immortalize the memory of their repressed relatives. Daily duration of the work will be 5 hours maximum.
Location: Perm region, Chysovoi area. Village Kychino

Project: This project is one of the most attractive and mass in the whole program.You will renovate an ancient monument -Nilostolbenskiy monastery. It is situated on the small island in the middle of the beautiful and one of the most attractive lakes in Russia - Seliger. Last year Russian Orthodox Church celebrated a 450th anniversary of death of venerable saint Nil Stolbenskiy - the monastery founder. Last year a participant from Korea have found a grave cast iron plate of 17th Century during her volunteer work Fair to say it was quite impressive discovery! You are supposed to participate in all these kind of works: masonry, brickwork, carpentry work and painting..
Location: Tver region, Ostashkov area, Neprie village.
Accommodation: in tents (3-4 persons per one). You will cook for yourself on fire and eat in the self-organized canteen right in the camp. Please bring sleeping bags and mats. The specific of your work and accommodation is quite interesting: the monastery is situated on the island and your camp - on the mainland. Therefore, every morning you as a member of a small fleet consisted of boats, canoes, rafts and so on will travel from the one bank to another - to your working place. The travel time is approximately 40-50 minutes one way.

Project: The camp is carried out in two stages: 1st week of the project will be a bicycle trip. Last year there were 21 racers. You will make a trip from Perm to Kuchino-village. The distance is approximately 250 km. There are no specific requirements to your physical form, but of course you should be able to ride a bicycle. 2nd week of the project will be a stationary camp on the basis of the Memorial museum "Perm - 36". The main idea of the project is to engage young people into the reconstruction of a museum of victims of political repressions. Taking part in this work you are getting closer to the reality of those period of Soviet history. The practical aspect of work will include: grass mowing, garbage removing, fences reconstruction, organizing place for the "Memory Forest" - the place where people can plant the trees in order to immortalize the memory of their repressed relatives. Accommodation: tThe living conditions for a 1st part of the project are pretty simple - riding all day long with short breaks for a food and rest and making camping in the evening. Racers will cook on fire by their own and wash themselves in a rivers and lakes nearby.For the 2nd part you will live either in a building situated around the museum cite or in tents. The food will be cooked by your own on fire. Please, take carpets and sleeping bags.

Project: Your task will be to plant 16 000 seeds of conifers (pine, cedar, fir-tree) at the territory of the national reserve. So you will try working in a foresters shoes. Besides you will have a chance to take part in a territory cleaning, ploughing up a virgin land and fences construction.
Siberia, a huge area on the map of Russia and huge white spot in the mind of the foreigner. It is very often associated with a -500C frost, "Siberian barber" - the famous film of S.Mikhalkov, bears and wild beardy Russian people wearied felt boots and furry hats. Its wideness takes your breath away, its nature does not similar to anything you have ever seen, its people are absolutely unique and very hospitable. So… you have a chance to feel it by your own Krasnoyarsk is an industrial, scientific and cultural centre of the Krasnoyarsk region situated in Eastern Siberia. Its territory stretches for 4.000 kms from north to south and encompasses a variety of climatic zones – steppe and taiga, tundra and arctic desert. Krasnoyarsk is situated on the banks of one of the greatest Russian rivers the Yenisei, which is one of the main attractions of the city. The state nature reserve “Stolby” is on the right bank of the river with a hundred of quaintly-shaped rocks found in taiga on the territory of 47000 hectares. The Trans-Siberian Railway «Moscow - Vladivostok» crosses the city Uyar. So you will arrive exactly to the project place by the train form Moscow. The distance is a little bit big so, please, be prepared for 3-4 days train trip - a wonderful chance to see whole territory of Russia.

Accommodation: in tents (2-4 persons). You’ll cook for yourself on fire and eat in the self – organized canteen right in the camp. Please bring sleeping bags and mats. The 2nd variant: accommondation will be provided in the edifice of the extra – curricular education and eat in the canteen.

The Brotherhood is situated in place when Oka-river falls into Volga – river. The magnificent view has being opened from vicinities. The project is called to familiarize you (volunteers) with traditions, canons, and history of icon painting. The project provides educational and practical aspects. In educational aspect you will study the icon painting, the theory. In the practical aspect you will help to prepare boards for icons (first coat, polishing), paints, other preparation work.

Project: Project will take place at the fantastic island of Valaam - one of the most picturesque places and beautiful monasteries in the Northwest of Russia. Valaam, surrounded by the archipelago of more than 50 beautiful small islands, is situated in Ladoga Lake. During its centuries-old history, the Monastery has undergone devastation and desolation time and again. A great amount of temples and churches are situated here, a lot of pilgrims come every summer to visit Holy Earth and to help in renovation works. You can see photos of Valaam at www.valaam.ru
The distance from St.Petersburg to Valaam is approximately 220 km. A lot of monks live here today, some of them renovate old churches, other work in the fields. A lot of people help them to save cultural heritage, and due to them a lot of churches of Valaam are already renovated. You task will be to help the monks in cleaning the fields, cutting down grass, preparing firewood. You will work in the kitchen, with domestic animals, in the garden. Very often volunteers are asked to help at the monastery farm, which is known by its wonderful atmoshere and kitchen! During the free time you will have a chance to visit different churches and temples situated at Valaam and learn much about Russian orthodox culture.
Location: Valaam island, Sortavala, Republic of Karelia, Russia.
Accommodation: on the island accommodation will be provided in the dormitory (3-20 persons in one room). You should take sleeping bags, working gloves and clothes with you. The monastery provides vegetarian food. There’re no mosquitoes, shower is available twice a week.
Specials: volunteers should be patient to orthodox religion. Volunteers with heavy diseases are not recommended to take part in this workcamp, because monastery is isolated and it could be hard to get to hospital very fast.

You will take part in repair work of apartment of these old people together with Russian youngsters. The practical aspect of work will include ceiling whitewashing, gluing wallpapers, floors painting etc.A study part of the project includes dialogs with people repressed, lectures on the reality of the Stalin-repression period of Soviet history, watching documentary films Daily duration of the work approximatelly 5 hours.

The project is called to familiarize volunteers with the craft of wood-cutting in traditional Russian manner. The volunteers will try to cut buildings of churches. With the qualified master they will learn the whole process of preparing board, instruments, tricks of cutting and so on. Volunteers will be provided with special equipment.
Accommodation: presumably in 2-room flat. It’s better to carry with you sleeping bags, just in case.

Project: In the year of 1998 the head of today’s Russian orthodox church Patriarkh Alexiy suggested to renovate this monastery. The authorities and citizens of Moscow and Vologda have supported the idea. Today dozens of specialists work in the Ferapontov monastery, renovating old buildings and paintings. You will help to renovate house for pilgrims. During the free time you will have a chance to visit different temples situated at Ferapontovo and learn much about Russian orthodox culture.You’ll be surrounded by fantastic landscapes and unique Russian architecture!The founder of the monastery - Ferapont became monk at the age of 40 in Moscow Simonov monastery, where his friend Kirill Belozersky also lived. Together they founded Kirillo-Belozersky monastery, and in the year of 1398 Ferapont left his friend Kirill and founded Ferapontov monastery. Monastery was a famous religious centre in the 16th century, In 1989 religious life here restarted and it is functioning as a men monastery again. The place is a unique architectural and historical monument, which now looks as it looked in XV–XVII centuries! Monastery is situated in Vologodskaya Area, on the bank of the Borodaevskoe lake, near Passkoe lake, not far from the city of Kirillov.

We will organize several excursions in the most beautiful places of the city. It will be possible to visit Hermitage and other museums. Black sea coast in general and Anapa in particular is a Russian national resort. Beautiful weather, warm sea, fine sand, diversity of fruits etc. There are a lot of places to visit here - mud lake, mineral springs, waterfalls, rich flora and fauna. Besides this the area is very rich with a historical objects.

Accommodation: in tents on the Black Sea coast. The cooking will be done by your own.

Project: At the morning working session volunteers are supposed to renovate the house of the Boarding school ¹1 and it's territory. Duration of this part is 3-4 hours a day.
There will be various types of work: whitewashing of the ceiling, creative wall-painting, laying the linoleum. As to the territory - the old fence is crack and torn, the soccer field should be leveled and sown with the grass seeds. Shortly, you will not regret about the lack of work. After the lunch time there will be an Art part. You (volunteers) and kids of 7-14 years old from the Kids Creative Centre will study ceramics work with a professional teacher. The duration of this stage is approx. 2-3 hours per day. There will probably be some outdoor sessions for ceramics as for this period many children are in the summer camps.
Location: Tula.
Accommodation: school provides accommodation. Girls will live in one room and boys in another with shared toilet and bathroom. You will cook by your own at the kitchen of the school.

Project: It’s not really a workcamp, cause you’ll not have physical work. The main idea is to bring together young people from all over the world and give them a chance to live together and to feel a community spirit. You’ll be provided with daily Russian lessons (from Monday to Friday), some cognitive excursions and trips in addition to the daily integration to the Russian language and our culture and history. Please, be ready and willing to talk just in Russian.
Location: Moscow.
Accommodation: In the school building on the floor. Please bring sleeping bags and mats. You will get an access to the shower, toilet, and washing machine. Meals will be prepared by your ownselves in the school’s kitchen. So don’t forget national recipes you’ll have chance to show all your cooking skills.
Language: Russian.
Specials: All participants of this camp should be able to communicate in Russian language. Because the task of camp doesn’t start to learn, but improve knowledge that you already have. This language camp won’t/can’t have same quality as a professional or commercial Russian language course in general. Please, keep in mind.
