Organisational Matters
Participation
| Age |
In general the projects are open to all who are at least 18 years old.
|
| Teens |
Some of the projects are also open to teenagers. This year that will be the following workcamps: W21, W22, W26.
|
| Family |
There are no family camps this year, but they will be organized in 2009.
|
| Workcamps |
Participants of Workcamps (W) and Art Projects (A, S) have to take part for the whole time the projects last.
|
| Building Weeks |
At Building Weeks (B) it is also possible to take part just for one week. This possibility is especially for people who are tied up in their job and often do not have enough time to take part in the whole project.
|
| Open House |
Participation at the Open House (O) is free of time limits.
The participation of two or more camps running is possible.
|
Languages
| Camp Language |
Languages usually spoken are German and English. Russian is also possible in some projects.
|
Food and Accommodation
|
Accommodation and sanitary conditions are mostly very basic. The renovation of some houses had just begun after they were abandoned for several decades.
Meals will be prepared by the groups themselves. They are a part of the community life.
|
Costs
| General Contribution |
Germans, Western Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Japanese, South Koreans, Australians and New Zealanders are asked for a contribution between 25 € and 40 € per week (depending on the personal financial possibilities), in order to cover part of the living costs.
Costs are calculated on a weekly basis. This means that even if the week is not completed, Open Houses Network needs the full weekly contribution. Therefore there is no refund if a volunteer arrives late or leaves earlier.
The participation fee includes all costs for food, accommodation, insurance and the seminars except travel costs and pocket-money.
|
| Exceptions | For volunteers from Eastern Europe and from other Non-European countries participation at our projects is free of charge. However, Open Houses Network needs an advance deposit of 50 € in form of a cheque, so that the camp leaders can be sure the participant is going to come. The cheque will not be cashed. It will be returned to the participant after his or her arrival.
|
| Travel Costs | Volunteers should organise the journey to the workcamp and back home by themselves and at their expenses.
|
Participation Fee Abroad | The participation fees for the projects in foreign countries depend on the partner organisations. For more information please check “Foreign Projects”.
