Voluntary Year of Ecological Service

Every year Open Houses Network offers places for a voluntary year of ecological service in Germany.

People who are interested in that kind of voluntary service have different possibilities. They can work together with professionals to restore historical monuments during the Building Weeks or they can be committed to work as a camp leader during the time when the Workcamps take place and help with the preparation and organisation of the workcamps.
A voluntary year of ecological service can last from six up to twelve months. In Germany the time the voluntary service lasts is regarded as waiting time for going to university or college.
Partly the work can be approved as a practical training within the scope of different studies at the university, for example, social subjects and architecture or related disciplines.
